For The Now.The Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor is an absolutely legendary piece of kit. I just wrote and recorded this 2 minute rocker last night, using the EMI and Studer on everything, along with some Pultec and Helios. I've been mixing things in minutes and feeling happier than stuff that used to take me days of tweaking (but I've also been recording way more and getting mixing practice, which may be more important than the plug ins). Combined with the UAD Studer on every track, those two usually get me there really fast. The EMI TG has really blown me away, and I'm loving it on basically any track at this point. My only problem with the UAD stuff is I run out of power really quickly! I actually bought the waves EMI TG1234, Pultec and Reverb to unload some of the processing stresses of the UAD stuff, since I really like adding some pultec in. The Helios 69 is an amazing EQ for guitars! I track through the 1073, and then for mixing use the Ampex and Studer on everything, also really like the EMT140, the old LA2A, the new 1176, and the Manley VariMu/Massive Passive.
